2012 Season Recap
Schofield's Season Ends at NJSIAA Tournament
Senior Matt Schofield lost a heartbreaker in the opening round of the 2012 NJSIAA Tournament with a 3-2 loss in the ultimate tiebreaker to Summit's Anthony Iarussi.
The loss brought an end to a season in which Schofield finished with a record of 33-3 and became the first wrestler in the program's history to reach the NJSIAA Tournament.

Schofield Advances to Quarterfinals
2/18: Barnegat Finishes 5th At Districts, 4 Advance To Regions
Greg Moran and Matt Schofield placed 2nd and Nick Fogarty and Ed Santiago finished 3rd to help lead Barnegat to a 5th place finish as a team at this year's District 24 Tournament.
Next up for Barnegat's four medal winners is the Region 6 Tournament. They will all participate in Wednesday's opening round of the tournament at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River.

With just one senior in the lineup, the Bengals will be loaded with youth, but not inexperience. Nine starters return, including six juniors, for a Barnegat team looking to improve upon their eleven wins a year ago.
The bottom half of the lineup will have three very solid junior returners spread out nicely in Fogarty, Mandara, and Stoma. Schmalz picked up nine wins in thirteen matches as a frosh in 2011 and will also be a part of the group that will be the anchors as Coach Karp breaks in several new faces into the remainder of the those lower half spots.
Schofield is the lone senior of the lineup and will provide leadership for an upperweight group that also returns Kirk, Santiago, Moran, and Frigon.
The Bengals have a nice nucleus returning and are working hard to take the program to the next level. They've set their goals high and will look to compete for the top spot in the division and for their first bid to the State Sectionals. With an improved schedule, and a lot of youth, this is a program on the rise that is only going to get better. Not to look beyond this season, but this could be a very tough team in 2012-2013.
Wrestler To Watch - (Jr) Joe Mandara
Mandara has put up 42 wins in his first two seasons with Barnegat, and with two full years of experience to his credit, he should now be hitting the next level. The talent is there for him to hit the 25-30+ win range, and he should earn his first trip to Regions in 2011-2012.
