2/2: vs Lakewood - These two have split their last 4 bouts, with Lakewood winning a 39-37 decision last season.
There's a nice mix of experience and youth battling hard as the Bengals, coming off their first winning season since 2013, look to continue their winning ways.
The upperweights have the potential to be a great strength for Barnegat this season, especially against some of the younger teams. There is a lot of veteran experience in the top part of the lineup, led by the senior trio of Charlie Cotton (35-6 / 2nd D32), who was a win away from a trip to AC in 2018, along with Peter Jennings (15-13) and Joseph Lauer (9-5). Also back are returning starters Valentino Iorio, Rashidi Alleyne, and Stephen Jennings, as well as Griffin Jackstadt, who gives them good depth at heavyweight.
There will be some new faces in the middle of the lineup, but the Bengals will have returning starters Michael DiPianta (16-15) and Mason Bayer (10-20), both juniors, to build them around.
Jaheim Anderson and Anthony Cogliano both started as freshmen last season, and are looking towards bigger things in 2019 with the year of experience under their belts. Also back is junior Jacob Reinhold, a +.500 wrestler who missed a month of the year last season. The Bengals with have their least amount of experience in the first few weights, where newcomers Robert Killmer and Dante Powell, along with Alizer Ruiz expect to see time.
There's a lot of experience back for the Bengals, especially up top, and the team is working hard as they look to hang with the big boys in their division this season. They're coming off their first winning season in five years, and with the veterans they have back, there's no reason to think they can't continue to rack up the wins in 2019.
